Every engagement starts with a Clay table filtered hard against ICP scoring criteria: firmographics, headcount, tech stack, whatever defines a real buyer for that account. Then the waterfall runs.   • Ad engagement: Clay doesn't natively see LinkedIn Ads engagement, so we use Fibbler as the bridge. It captures company-level ad engagement and fires a webhook into Clay with the company name, campaign, and engagement level. Clay checks the account against active pipeline so we never cold-email an open deal, enriches the right contacts, and pushes them into Instantly for email or HeyReach for LinkedIn.
  • Hiring: Clay's Find Jobs waterfall pulls open roles from PredictLeads, Google Jobs, and Clay's native jobs database, so a fresh SDR posting becomes a trigger.
  • Website visits: Website visits follow that same path.
  • Funding announcements: We extract round size and stage so you can filter to the rounds that change a buying decision.

Together, these triggers turn current behavior and company changes into timely, coordinated outreach.

Our published benchmark is outbound launching within 60 minutes of an engagement signal, against the 3–7 day lag that's typical when paid and outbound sit with separate vendors.

CRM sync and cross-channel attribution

Clay is a workspace, while HubSpot remains the system of record in our builds:

  • HubSpot sync: Enriched records sync to HubSpot with "Ignore blank values" enabled, so the phone number you already paid a provider for doesn't vanish because one enrichment step timed out.
  • Campaign attribution: Each contact carries a campaign name property, which is what lets a HubSpot attribution report tie a closed-won deal back to the outbound campaign that sourced it.
  • Paid exposure: On the paid side, Fibbler matches LinkedIn ad exposure to deals by domain.

One caveat we give every client up front: Fibbler's "influenced" metric establishes correlation only. A company saw your ads before the deal was created, and your stakeholders should hear that before the dashboard goes live. We would rather over-explain that caveat than defend a dashboard later.

Why most in-house Clay builds stall

Running a production system like a side project creates the same coordination overhead you already live with across vendors, just concentrated in one tool.

Key-person dependency stalls many in-house builds. A 2026 survey of GTM engineers found 56% are the only person doing this work at their company, with no peer to review their builds.
