What 99 B2B X ads tell us

  1. 99distinct B2B creatives from X's Ads Repository. X only publishes ads shown in the EU, with how many people saw each one, so this covers the brands' European campaigns.

  2. 49%of all impressions went to the top 10% of creatives. A few ads carry most of the spend.

  3. 4.3out of 10 was the average score for the most-seen quarter of creatives, about the same as the 4.4 for the least-seen quarter. Reach on X comes from budget and targeting more than from how the ad looks.

  4. 100%of the top-rated creatives get their point across in two seconds, against 84% of all of them.

  5. 5.0out of 10 was the average for creatives that lead with a specific number, against 4.3 for ones that don't.

The 6 best ads and why they work

The highest-scoring creatives that use a repeatable pattern. Click an image to see the post on X.

When a card says Seen 2.1M times, that's how many times X showed it in Europe. It's the one public measure of how much an advertiser put behind an ad.

Try Redis for free

Ad copy

Move your hottest queries into Redis and drop latency from 200ms to <2ms. A caching layer that delivers a 100X performance win.

Why it works

One technical result as the headline, from 200ms to under 2ms. Developers know exactly what that means for their app.

What stands out

Tall condensed type fills the frame, so the number is the first and only thing you see.

The patterns behind them

The same repeatable formats we found on LinkedIn, with examples from X. Each comes with a recipe for the image, headline, copy and CTA.

  • Lead with one number or one result. X moves fast and the first line is all most people read.
  • Put the brand and the claim inside the image, since the post text often gets cut.
  • Developers and security teams are on X, so show the product, code or data, not a stock photo.
  • Treat each pattern as a test. Run it against your current best ad for 2 to 3 weeks and judge it on the campaign’s own metric.
1

Named customer as hero

Let a known customer carry the ad. Their product, their exec or their numbers fill the frame, and your brand sits small.

  • ImageReal photo of the customer's product or exec, or 3 outcome lines with their logo. Your logo clearly visible beside theirs.
  • Headline'[Customer] builds with [you]' or the exec's own quote. Pick a customer the reader sees as a peer.
  • CopyWhat the customer faced, what changed, one number, a link to the full story.
  • CTARead the story.

2

Engineer-native code hero

Real code, CLI output or a real repo screenshot as the main visual, written in the reader's own syntax with a dry joke or receipt.

  • ImageA real code snippet, CLI command or GitHub file in monospace, correct syntax, one line highlighted. Dark background, one accent colour.
  • HeadlineA short line or pun that only an engineer gets. Example 'It's a Droplet. With eight H100s in it.'
  • CopyOne sentence on what the code does, one on price or speed, no marketing adjectives.
  • CTAGet started or Deploy now.
Vast.ai example
3

Typographic sting

Pure type with a setup and a jab, sometimes with a type trick (word search, italic word) doing the visual work.

  • ImageType only on a flat colour, or a simple type device (hidden word in a grid). One accent colour for the sting.
  • HeadlineSetup line, then a sting about what the best do. Example 'Your infrastructure has rules. Your AI has vibes.'
  • CopyExplain the stat in one line and say what the product changes. Keep it calm.
  • CTASee where you stand or Read the report.
Redis example
4

Hand-made illustration twist

A distinctive illustration style (crayon, letterpress card, botanical, isometric) that carries a light idea and sets the brand apart from SaaS gradients.

  • ImageCommission one hand-drawn style. Child's crayon, letterpress greeting card, botanical tangle or isometric machine. Keep it on brand colours.
  • HeadlineA warm or wry line that fits the format. Example 'Thinking of you while you're stuck moving data.'
  • CopyName the problem plainly and the product's answer. Let the image carry the tone.
  • CTASee how it works or Read more.

What to leave out

  • Creative with no brand in the frame. Averaged 3.6 out of 10, against 4.8 when the brand is visible. People scroll past an ad that doesn't say who it is from.

How we built it

Every ad comes from X's Ads Repository, which lists the ads X showed in the EU with their impressions and reach. We searched it for the brands in our LinkedIn library and kept only ads that link to each brand's own website.

Each creative went to Jev, an AI model built to judge creative, with its image and text. Jev scored it out of 10, up to 5 for how well it would land with a senior B2B buyer and up to 5 for craft. The scores judge the creative, so test against your own numbers.

Few B2B brands run ads on X in Europe, so this library is small. It covers the ones that do.

Every ad belongs to the company that ran it. Use them for ideas and make your own creative.

Who's in the library

Algolia, Attio, ElevenLabs, Figma, Framer, HeyGen, Perplexity, Redis, Retool, Vast.ai, Wiz, Zendesk
